Three Hygienic Meat Transfer Systems for Pet Food Production Expansion
PCM Group UK Ltd designed, manufactured and delivered three fully hygienic stainless steel meat transfer systems to support a leading UK pet food manufacturer in expanding its production capacity.
As demand for high-quality pet food continues to grow, manufacturers must increase throughput while maintaining strict hygiene standards and process reliability. This project demonstrates PCM’s expertise in delivering hygienic pumping and transfer solutions tailored to the food industry, ensuring efficient and consistent meat handling in automated production environments.
Challenge
The customer required flexible and hygienic transfer systems capable of feeding multiple new extruder lines while ensuring continuous, controlled product flow.
Key challenges included:
- Handling raw meat with strict hygienic requirements
- Ensuring consistent, low-pulsation flow to maintain product quality
- Integrating seamlessly with existing automation and control systems
- Providing flexibility for multi-recipe production and future process changes
- Maintaining accurate dosing and flow control across multiple production lines
Additionally, operators needed an intuitive system allowing both local and remote control, as well as real-time monitoring of hopper levels to optimize operations and reduce manual intervention.
Solution
PCM Group UK Ltd delivered three turnkey hygienic transfer systems engineered for performance, flexibility and ease of integration.
Each system was manufactured in stainless steel and designed according to strict hygienic standards, minimizing contamination risks while supporting intensive washdown procedures. The systems were equipped with stainless steel hoppers, non-contact laser level sensors and user-friendly HMI interfaces for real-time monitoring and control.
To ensure optimal product transfer, four PCM Easyfeed Pumps were carefully selected based on application requirements, delivering accurate, continuous flow with minimal pulsation. A dedicated “hopper fill” function enables efficient transfer of meat from upstream grinding processes to downstream dosing systems.
Equipped with swivel casters with brakes, these modules offer complete mobility, allowing customers to easily adapt their production lines to new recipes or future process changes.
By delivering a complete, plug-and-play solution, PCM Group UK Ltd enabled the customer to increase production output, improve process efficiency and maintain the highest hygiene standards across their pet food manufacturing operations.
